Javea in Castellano, Xabia in Valencian, is a popular place on the Costa Blanca, with an elegant heart, where there are many beautiful villas for rent for a low budget.
In particular, to the north of the province of Alicante, Javea is one of the most popular destinations on the Costa Blanca. The old town is utterly gorgeous, with peasant houses decorated with grilles and lintels in the typical local stone.
Javea has a long sandy bay, the Arenal, right down town, where there are equipped beaches, free beach and numerous games for children. Nearby other small and beautiful coves offer services such as bar and games.
Along the Playa de l’Arenal is the diving school who have more than 10 years experience in the stunning backdrops of the protected marine reserve of Cap Sant Antoni. Close the port it is located the Sailing School of Nautical Club of Jávea which propose, among others, courses for beginners.
After soaking up its excellent beaches, it may of course spend time visiting the city.
The historic centre
This village developed around the church of San Bartolomeo in Gothic style, also a defense against pirates. This type of architecture can also be found in several streets of Jávea.
You can also visit the Archaeological and Ethnographic Museum, where you can learn to perfection the history of the city. The Church of Our Lady of Loreto is another must, as it is a curious building which resembles the keel of a boat.
The natural parks
Javea also offers a wide range of tours and excursions. In fact, you can visit the lighthouses or the Marine Reserve of Cabo de San Antonio where you can start different routes in nature.
And if the days are “hot”, the natural park of Montgó, which surrounds the city, invites us to refrigerants adventures hiking on foot or by bicycle, along the paths of what is the most important mountain system in the area, from where you will see breathtaking landscapes that frame the coast, the sea and the Balearics.
The Mediterranean diet is the main protagonist in the cuisine of the place and the main product is rice. Undoubtedly the most famous recipe is the paella, but beans and turnips are also characteristic of the area, and fish you can taste in soup, well fried or with lots of oil. Among the typical products are almonds, raisins, figs and oranges, and thus tipycal pudding are the nougat and almond cake. Javea also has wines Designation of Origin and typical drinks such as barley water.
In the month of June is the popular celebration of the feast of the Bonfires of San Juan, when we celebrate the arrival of the summer solstice. In August, the feast of Our Lady of Loreto is a must: during this celebration take place bullfights, music shows, parades, processions and fireworks.
